Killian's Red
$3500
SALE PENDING 3/26/07
Killian is a very special horse in search of a very special person. He has been tossed around just about his whole life, and now he is looking for someone to love him forever. Gentle and kind, he does have some get up and go to him. He has been ridden by children as young as 8 years old and is a good boy, he just does everything with energy!
He is good out in the pasture, and he jumps very well. He is a great candidate for the jumper arena, and he would work very well into dressage for the right rider. He has been evented, not sure how long or to what level, but I would imagine that would be something he would enjoy. A complete pleasure to be around, he is a true gentleman and is truly a sweet horse.
This horse stole my heart from the beginning with his history and his sweet personality, and for this reason I am only offering him to an approved home. This means that there is an application process - I want to know where he will be, who your trainer is, what you feed, etc. You will be required to come and try him, and you will be required to take him on a 30-day trial to make sure that he is a match for you (read what this entails on my horses for sale page). Also, I want this to be the very last home for this guy, so you have to prove to me that you are the person, and you will be required to give me quarterly updates. Sounds crazy, but when you offer a horse at such a low price it is so likely for him to get snatched up by someone that is over eager and can't handle him or doesn't realize what is involved in working with horses.
If you read through all of that above, then you deserve to know a little bit more about him. . . : ) Killian is a tatooed racer, and he raced until he was 6 years old placing often enough to keep racing him, I guess. I have his entire pedigree and race record for his new owner to have. He went from there, and we were told at some point he evented - not sure how high or how long, but he has nice form over fences. He was turned out to pasture and neglected and possibly abused for several years when the lady that my friend bought him from rescued him. He was on his way to slaughter. My friend bought him, but at 15 years old she didn't have the patience that it would take to get him into the Hunter ring, and she wanted to show immediately. We offered him for sale once before, but my friend tired of trying to sell him after 3 months of empty phone calls and being stood up. That is when I purchased Killian. I have had him for a while, and he is an awesome horse. Since I have several horses in training, I decided to offer him to someone that would be able to spend more time solely dedicated to him because I believe that he should be the center of attention and be able to find "his person", but it must be AN EXCELLENT HOME! I don't need to sell him for any reason, and I don't mind keeping him indefinitely.
He is a good mover, and he has tons of talent and potential. He has many years of good service left in him, so don't let his age fool you! I would consider an on farm lease to the right person.
