About Halliea
Halliea is a serious, experienced equestrian that finds prospects and passes them on to loving homes. She also gives lessons, provides training and accepts outside horses for sale. Halliea has been in the horse world for many years and has a great knowledge of the sport. She also enjoys having projects to work on and passing them on to loving homes. She does not make a living in the equine world, but she would laugh and say she definitely supports many others making a living this way. Instead, what she is doing is finding wonderful prospects that are untrained and working with them until they are suitable for resale as well as gently teaching others how to ride and train their own mounts.
Most of Halliea's experience is in the Hunter world, but in the past few years she has made the transition over to dressage and on to eventing. She believes that dressage is the foundation of all riding disciplines, and she uses this approach in training the horses that are under her care.

Halliea has trained with many different trainers, all with different ways of getting to the same goal: a correctly trained horse. Some of the trainers that Halliea has had the privilege of working with are LeAnn Orr of DreamLand Farm, Zeb Fry of Little Kentucky Farm, and Amanda Persons of Applewood Farm. Halliea has also taken clinics with several notable riders including Imtiaz Anees and Anna Jane White-Mullin. She currently trains with Chris Elliott on her personal mount, She Calls Me Tater. Tater and Halliea are currently in dressage and hunter training, and are successfully competing in local Hunter, Dressage, and Combined Training shows.
Halliea's top priority is a loving home for each horse. This is not a "bait and switch" scheme. She prides herself on correctly representing horses, and will not sell a horse if she does not feel that it is a good match, no matter what the offer. The horse's well-being and happiness are the most important thing to Halliea. Additionally, these horses need a teammate and a job - they have too much talent to waste!

On Nutrition and Care. . .
Halliea believes that the sport horses of today are true athletes, and as such require the best of feed and care. The horses that she has in training are shod on a schedule every 5 to 6 weeks by one of the top farriers in the area. If the horse's hooves warrant they have clips, all around shoeing, front only, or even barefoot. The farrier decides what is best for each horse, and that is what is done. Many of the horses that are cared for by Halliea have been neglected and require special shoeing to get their feet into proper condition.

The feed that Halliea feeds is top-of-the-line. The cornerstone of her feeding program is Triple Crown Complete, which she supplements with Buckeye Ultimate Finish and shredded beet pulp when necessary. All of the Halliea's personal horses are fed Glanzen Lite, and Quiessence, Ration Plus & B Plex are added as necessary. All of the horses are turned out daily for a minimum of 8 hours per day. Some of the horses live outside all of the time which allows them maximum benefit from constant grazing. None of the horses offered here are cooped up to be "hot to the leg"; the low level exercise that a horse receives while grazing is essential to its overall well being, performance, and muscling. The hay that is fed is either a top-quality fescue or an Orchard Alfalfa mix, depending on the individual horse's needs.

Halliea's worming program is as simple as it is effective: once a month paste wormer, rotating between the different types of wormers. All of the horses are up to date on all of their shots, and most of them have already had a thorough vet check performed by Dr. Ken Marcella of Chattahoochee Equine. Of course, Halliea welcomes any vet out to check the soundness of the horses offered here, and will do everything she can to accommodate them.
Outside of the horse world. . .
Outside of the horse world Halliea enjoys helping her husband, Ken, operate his automotive repair business. Recently, Ken has branched out into a new venture for both of us - a Tanning Salon! It has been great fun helping him realize a dream that he has had for many years. Now, Halliea's days are split between the shop, the salon, and the barn - helping her husband (who makes it possible for her to help horses, even as much as he grumbles about it) wherever he needs help most, and trying her best to sneak off for an afternoon ride. It is an extremely busy and rewarding life.

Halliea is also a member in good standing of the Georgia Army National Guard. Her unit is stationed out of Dobbins Air Reserve Base in Marietta, GA, and she has been with them since June of 2000. Halliea spent a year stationed in Kuwait in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, was activated for the relief effort for Hurricane Katrina, and most recently was deployed to the Dominican Republic for Operation New Horizons (a peace keeping, humanitarian effort). Her military experience only reinforces her drive and commitment for success, and it has given her the discipline and perseverance that it takes to effectively complete any task.
